Peter Hills Church of England School

Our Nursery

Our Nursery class is located on the school grounds and makes up one half of our Early Years Unit.

The Nursery class has two dedicated staff who are skilled at providing varied and exciting learning opportunities to ensure all children have the best possible start to their school journey.

Nursery (ID 1048)

The Nursery class offers a vibrant, exciting, themed approach to education based in play in a stimulating environment.  Children learn to share, care for one another and work collaboratively.  They learn traditional manners and how to listen to instructions as well as how to make choices and be independent.  They will begin to learn pre-writing and pre-reading skills.  However, where a child is ready to read and write, the opportunity will be given.

Our child-centred programme allows children to make choices and encourages them to take responsibility for their own learning. Investigation, creativity, reflection, exploration, communication and social interaction are all valued and promoted.  Children’s contributions are sought and valued.  A sense of well-being and belonging underpins everything we do. The staff provide a supportive and nurturing environment where children feel safe to explore, take managed risks and challenge themselves.

Children start Nursery in September, after their 3rd birthday. If numbers permit, then we may also have a January and April intake. If this is the case, your child would start with us on the term after their 3rd birthday.
