At Peter Hills, we believe ‘Home Learning’ should be engaging and inspiring.
Every half term, children will receive a Topic Map in their homework books. This gives parents an opportunity to see what the class are covering for the half term. It details an overview of the topic, any vocabulary it would be helpful to learn, the value for the half term and the learning skill (e.g. tying a shoelace, telling the time). "Creative Corner" is a chance for children to create something to show their classmates at the end of the half term.
Alongside the Topic Map, children will receive writing tasks that can be completed. These link with the learning in Topic and English for the half term. There are also weekly links to iXL codes, that correspond to learning in class, for the children to explore at their own pace. Sometimes, teachers might signpost parents to practise a skill on iXL that needs more consolidation.
Handwriting and spellings are sent out on a weekly basis.
