Malachi Talabi

What inspired you to work in education?

After finishing a degree in marketing and mass communications I decided to  pursue a semi-pro football career working as a sports coach was and a teaching assistant meant that I could train and play fortunately enough I realised that working with children wasn't just convenient it was actually something I loved doing it just came natural to me watching children make progress and being a part of that process was so rewarding. 

What special skills and talents do you bring to Peter Hills?

I am a FA level 2 football coach and I am obsessed with football

I sing and love to have fun which sometimes spills over to a prank here and there

I have a passion for sports and peak performance which transfers to the children

I am creative

I like philosophy and to explore out the box thinking

I am laid back and love to laugh

I am extremely entrepreneurial  

I am funny

What do you do in your spare time?

I enjoy playing football (still play for a team)

I like to play futsal (a Brazilian version of football)

I like singing

I love to sing and I love to spend time with my family watching films or watching football.

Janie Curtis

What inspired you to work in education?

I started working at Peter Hills as a volunteer 18 years ago. I enjoy working with the children and seeing them grow and achieve as they go through their school years.

What special skills and talents do you bring to Peter Hills?

I’m good at organising and getting jobs done. I consider myself a caring person and a good listener. I am enjoying art club and working with different age groups.

What do you do in your spare time?

When not at school I enjoy spending time with my granddaughters and making our time together fun. I also like spending time with my friends and travelling to New York as often as I can.

Jackie Norman

What Inspired you to work in education?

Before becoming a parent, I worked in hospitality. Once my sons started primary school I became a volunteer there, realising a school environment was where I wanted to work, I have since worked in a number of schools within Southwark - 7 years at Peter Hills.

What special skills and talents do you bring to Peter Hills?

I am very creative, a great listener, firm but fair with a great sense of humour.

What do you do in your spare time?

I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, camping and holidays abroad.

Michelle Smith

What inspired you to work in education?

I’ve been at Peter Hills for 24 years. I started as cleaner and came in to listen to children read and cover the odd day when staff were off sick. I really enjoyed it so when a position came up for a 1:1 support worker I applied.

What special skills and talents do you bring to Peter Hills?

I currently do the cooking club and would like to do more cooking with children.

What do you do in your spare time?

I enjoy going to the gym with my daughter and on weekends during the Summer months I love going to Dymchurch. I have a caravan there and like going for bike rides along the seawall with my husband. I love shopping (for shoes especially).

Lesley Russell

What inspired you to work in education?

I was inspired to work in education after doing voluntary work in school after my own children started school. I enjoyed the children's enthusiasm and excitement in the learning environment
and was keen to support and share knowledge in helping them to achieve the new challenges that each day brings.

What special skills and talents do you bring to Peter Hills?

My role in Peter Hills is teaching assistant in Year 5 which I have enjoyed this year. I feel that I have good listening skills and am supportive and helpful to colleagues. I try to be organised and have good multitasking skills.

What do you do in your spare time?

When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my family and having fun times with my grandchildren. I love fine dining and holidays to new and exciting countries.

Alex Cole

What inspired you to work in education?

I was inspired to work in education especially at Peter Hills because my children went to the school and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I admired the staff professionalism and it inspired me to go to college and become a TA. Working in the Nursery is very rewarding.

What special skills and talents do you bring to Peter Hills?

I believe I make a difference to the children that I work with in helping them with their learning every day. Helping them to reach their goals is what I strive for.

What do you do in your spare time?

When I am not at school I enjoying socialising and having quality time with my family and grandchildren as they grow up so fast.

Jackie Taylor

What inspired you to work in education?

I chose education in the hope of making a positive difference in the lives of the children I work with. 

What special skills and talents do you bring to Peter Hills?

I have many years of experience working with children. I am patient, caring, fair and have a positive attitude. I have an understanding of how the children develop and learn and I build good relationships with all members of the school community. I have a natural talent for maths which is my favourite subject.

What do you do in your spare time?

I love spending time with my grandchildren and eating out with friends and family (I don’t like cooking). I also like spending money and enjoy holidays abroad.  

 

Fauzia Sheikh

What inspired you to work in education?

As I had young children the working hours suited me at first, but then it became more about being able to support and inspire the next generation of children so they are able to achieve their goals and dreams.  

What special skills and talents do you bring to Peter Hills?

I am dependable, trustworthy, flexible and always willing to learn new things. I’m also able to build strong and lasting relationships with members of the school community.  

What do you do in your spare time?

When I’m not at work I love to socialise and spend my hard earned money.   

 

Michele Tongue

What inspired you to work in education?

After completing a social studies coursework at the age of 16 which included child development I knew I wanted to work with children. 

What special skills and talents do you bring to Peter Hills?

I am flexible and passionate about making a difference to the lives of the children we work with. I always aim to do my best and strive for excellence in all I do. 

What do you do in your spare time?

I love socialising with friends and family. I love going camping, spending time with my three children, walking my dog and travelling when possible.  

 

Sian Bunclark

What inspired you to work in education?

Having always wanted to work with children, I started training as a nurse however I found it wasn't for me. I went on and trained as a nursery nurse working for social services which I loved and after I had my children I started back to work at Peter Hills and have been there ever since. 

What special skills and talents do you bring to Peter Hills?

I am trustworthy, willing to learn new ways, adaptable to changes and dependable. I am also able to build a working relationship with parents, children and colleagues, and able to step up in the absence of the teacher ensuring the continual smooth running of the nursery. I enjoy art and introducing children to different art techniques

What do you do in your spare time?

When I'm not at school I enjoy reading, art when i have time, and I also make cakes.
